Kairos Outside is a lay-led, ecumenical ministry which provides a spiritual support community
for women who are or have been affected by the incarceration of a friend or family member. Kairos Outside lets them know that they are not alone and that there is a Christian Community that cares about them. Kairos Outside's mission is to provide a safe and sacred place for these women, who often feel alone and isolated, to share their challenges and find healing and hope. This starts with the women attending a weekend retreat where they hear a series of talks given by women, many of whom have incarcerated loved ones. Interspersed with the talks are periods of voluntary, confidential sharing, music and laughter. Maryland holds weekends in the spring and fall of
each year. The weekends are free to each guest, transportation can be provided
